About FutureLab
Residents as Developers
FutureLab is a cooperative development company that takes the design of the social living environment as the starting point for area development. In joint deliberations and dialogues, residents engage in conversation about their living environment. Together, they shape this and explore which values and needs determine a good and meaningful existence.
Design and Development
In FutureLab, residents collaborate with professionals and become developers of their own living environment. In this learning process, young people, adults, and seniors work together with start-ups, municipalities, and companies on concrete issues in area development. Starting from the question “what is a good life?”, they design and undertake projects together, building the future of their plot, neighborhood, and city.
Process Transformation
The process of area development, focusing on social living environments, requires a different framework of theory and practice. The transition to a different perspective and approach requires moderating this process with all stakeholders. We view this learning process as part of new governance towards a vital democracy.
